Trump’s War of Choice Against Iran Is Another Broken Promise

Within the first five months of Trump’s second presidency,  the Republican-led administration has already entered America into another war in the Middle East, this time against Iran.

Despite branding himself as a peacemaker on the campaign trail and frequently criticizing his predecessors’ foreign entanglements, Donald Trump nevertheless exercised little restraint over the weekend as he ordered B-2 stealth bombers to decapitate Iran’s nuclear program.

And although U.S. bombs struck three uranium enrichment facilities in “Operation Midnight Hammer,”  the current state of Tehran’s nuclear arsenal remains a mystery — Like Iraq in 2003, the Iranian regime’s possession of weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) is largely conjecture.

However, one thing remains abundantly clear: Trump’s unilateral decision to go to war against Iran is a betrayal of the promise he made to end America’s costly wars of choice in the Middle East. At the end of the day, he’s just another Republican warmonger.

Trump Allies, Including Marjorie Taylor Greene, Express Buyer’s Remorse Following Iran Strikes

In a rare display of independent thought, several of Trump’s Republican allies have criticized the administration’s unilateral strikes against Iran, citing the abandonment of the president’s stated commitment to ending America’s “forever wars.”

In Congress, ultra-MAGA Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene stunningly called Trump’s war “a complete bait and switch” that endangers Americans’ lives, setting the stage for a potential civil war within the MAGA base.

“Trump’s MAGA agenda included these key promises: NO MORE FOREIGN WARS; NO MORE REGIME CHANGE; [and] WORLD PEACE,” the Georgia representative wrote on Twitter. “Only 6 months in and we are back to foreign wars, regime change, and World War 3.”

“It feels like a complete bait and switch to please the neocons, warmongers, military industrial complex contracts, and neocon TV personalities that MAGA hates and who were NEVER TRUMPERS!” she added.

Likewise, far-right influencer Charlie Kirk voiced his displeasure about the possibility of joining Israel’s war against Iran. “Trump voters, especially young people, supported President Trump because he was the first president in my lifetime not to start a new war,” Kirk reflected. “The last thing America needs right now is a new war. Our number one desire must be peace — as quickly as possible.”

In another tense example of Republican infighting, former Fox News propagandist Tucker Carlson sparred with GOP Senator Ted Cruz just days before Trump authorized airstrikes against Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.

In a scathing rebuke of the Trump administration’s warmongering, Carlson quizzed Cruz on basic facts about the country — posing simple questions that the senator was unable to answer.

“How many people live in Iran, by the way?” Tucker asked. “I don't know the population,” Cruz replied.

“At all?” Carlson responded in amazement. “You don't know the population of the country you seek to topple? How could you not know that?”

Predictably, Tucker Carlson’s opposition to the Iran war ignited Trump’s rage on social media, highlighting the growing rift within MAGA. “Somebody please explain to kooky Tucker Carlson that, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON!” the president complained on Truth Social.

Republicans branded Trump as a peacemaker

Trump’s Middle East Warmongering Exposes Staggering Election Hypocrisy

Of course, Trump’s Republican allies have every right to be angry; after all, he promised to end wars, not start them. By bombing Iran on behalf of Israel, Trump has abandoned his “America First” promise to avoid costly foreign entanglements and forever wars.

Likewise, throughout the 2024 election cycle, Trump and his far-right enablers dubiously accused Kamala Harris of supporting foreign wars and bringing us closer to World War 3. The irony of which cannot be overstated.

“A vote for Donald Trump is a vote for a man who wants to end wars, not start them,” claimed Trump’s National Intelligence Director, Tulsi Gabbard, who in March coincidentally testified that Iran is not close to developing nuclear weapons.

Make no mistake: Donald Trump’s emotional, inept, and needlessly provocative approach to global politics is weakening America’s global standing, threatening the lives of service members stationed abroad, and facilitating nuclear conflict. More insultingly, the president would rather incite foreign regime change than help millions of struggling Americans access healthcare, housing, and warm meals.

By pledging to “MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN,” Donald Trump is pursuing an America-Last Agenda.

Frustratingly, new intel reports suggest Trump’s provocative and escalatory strikes against Iran were not even successful in achieving their primary objective.

According to the U.S. intelligence, Trump’s airstrikes only set the Iranian regime’s nuclear program back by a matter of months — falling short of Secretary Hegseth’s claims of “complete” obliteration.

If Iran were not already in the process of developing weapons of mass destruction, the onset of war against the United States could embolden Tehran to abandon diplomacy and accelerate its arms race, turning Trump’s preemptive anti-nuclear strikes into a dangerous self-fulfilling prophecy.

The offending meme of Vice President JD Vance in question, according to the source

21-Year-Old Tourist Says He Was Harassed by ICE Agents and Denied Entry into the U.S. For Having a Meme of JD Vance

In other news, according to the Norwegian Newspaper Nordlys, a 21-year-old tourist from Norway says he was denied entry into the United States and subjected to harsh scrutiny by law enforcement after a meme critical of the Trump administration was found on his phone.

Mads Mikkelsen — who shares no relation to the Danish actor of the same name — says U.S. officials threatened him with a $5000 fine and possible imprisonment if he refused to unlock his phone and share his photo library with members of ICE.

Allegedly, Mikkelsen was then refused entry into the United States, detained without food or water, and sent back to Norway after an unflattering meme of Vice President JD Vance was discovered in his photo library. Mikkelsen believes he was turned away for political reasons.

Trump’s Customs and Border Protection (CBP) denies the accusations, claiming instead that Mikkelsen was suspected of illegal drug use, and the offending memes of the vice president did not factor into the administration’s decision to deny his entry.

Although it is unclear which side is telling the truth, American tourism has nevertheless become especially dangerous thanks to Trump’s xenophobic immigration policies. Since January, foreign nationals, including popular actors, influencers, and entrepreneurs, have been subjected to frivolous and inhumane treatment by customs officials at an alarming rate.

The decline in tourism resulting from the Trump administration’s foreign hostility is expected to cost the U.S. $90 billion in lost GDP this year alone.
