100 Days in Office: Trump Administration Escalates Fascist Rhetoric

Beset with worsening approval ratings, Donald Trump and his sycophantic cabinet show no signs of backing down from their authoritarian vision for America

As felon President Donald Trump reaches the 100-day mark of his second presidency, his administration isn’t shying away from its deplorable anti-American policies despite worsening approval ratings and a shrinking U.S. economy.

As his administration continues to disregard court orders to facilitate the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia from El Salvador, the Trump FBI has now begun the process of arresting dissenting judges who don’t comply with the regime’s illegal orders to deport immigrants without granting them legal due process.

Meanwhile, evidenced by the sale of new merchandise by the Trump organization, the president is reportedly considering launching a 2028 reelection campaign for an illegal third term in the White House, which is constitutionally prohibited under the Twenty-Second Amendment. If he somehow finds a loophole to run again, he will certainly be in for an uphill battle, as his first 100 days have already been regarded as being historically unpopular.

Trump Sells 2028 Hats as He Considers Running for an Illegal Third Term

The Trump Organization is now selling $50 hats promoting a possible 2028 reelection campaign. However, by then, Trump will have already served two non-consecutive terms in office, making him legally ineligible to run for a third under the Constitution’s Twenty-Second Amendment.

The law unequivocally states that “no person... shall be elected more than twice” to the office, but the president and his supporters have other ideas

In March, the president told NBC News reporters that he wasn’t “joking” about the possibility of running for a third term, explaining that he and his team are actively looking for loopholes around the Twenty-Second Amendment.

“There are methods which you could do it,” Trump told NBC News. “A lot of people want me to do it.”

Trump Administration Arrests Wisconsin Judge on Obstruction Charges, Shocking Legal Community

The Trump administration escalated its war against the judiciary with the arrest of Wisconsin Judge Hannah Dugan, who the FBI alleges obstructed the arrest of an undocumented immigrant in her jurisdiction.

Witnesses and documents say Dugan confronted ICE agents who arrived at her courthouse and argued that they did not have an adequate warrant to detain the man in question, preventing his arrest.

Dugan’s legal peers believe her arrest by the Trump FBI was a politically motivated decision meant to silence critics and instill fear in the courts.

“I think they’re trying to send a message to chill the judiciary,” Wisconsin Appellate Judge Pedro Colón told CNN in an interview. “I think what they want to do is to essentially have the judiciary not only in Wisconsin but the independent judiciaries of the state … essentially succumb to their power and their policy priorities independent of Constitutional rights and what other rights people have.”

Following Dugan’s arrest, Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers accused the Trump administration of using “dangerous rhetoric to attack and attempt to undermine our judiciary at every level.”

Trump Given Sinking “F” Rating by a Plurality of Americans After First 100 Days in Office, Poll Finds

Twice as many people say President Donald Trump deserves an “F” rather than an “A” grade for his first 100 days in office — marking one of the most unpopular presidential honeymoon periods in American history. According to a PBS/NPR/Marist poll, most voters already say Trump’s second term has had a negative impact on their lives.

Among the highlights of the poll, just more than half of U.S. adults — 51 percent — say the president is moving the country in the wrong direction. Likewise, roughly 6 in 10 Americans believe Trump is rushing to make changes in the government without considering their impact. On the economy, 58 percent disapproved of Trump’s handling of tariffs, and 60 percent believe today’s economic conditions are a direct result of Trump’s policies, rather than being inherited from Biden.

In a delusional speech celebrating his first 100 days in office, Trump claimed his second term marked the most successful start of any presidency in history. “We're here tonight in the heartland of our nation to celebrate the most successful first 100 days of any administration in the history of our country,” the president told his supporters. “That's according to many, many people.”

House Republicans Vote to Protect Secretary Pete Hegseth From Signal Leak Investigation

At the direction of Speaker Mike Johnson, House Republicans amended congressional rules to prevent Democrats from launching “resolutions of inquiry” to probe Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth’s use of a private messaging app Signal, where sensitive war plans were shared with his family and other members of Trump’s cabinet.

Democratic Rep. Adam Smith has accused his Republican colleagues and the Trump administration of trying to cover up Pete Hegseth’s dangerous and potentially unlawful negligence. “They’re afraid of the issue and they want to cover it up,” he told reporters ahead of the vote. “They don’t want to address it, and they don’t want to deal with it. And that means that Hegseth is just going to keep doing it.”

Gerry Connolly, the Democrat Who Challenged Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for Top Oversight Role, Resigns From Position as Cancer Returns

Democratic Rep. Gerry Connolly of Virginia announced that he will be stepping down from his leadership role on the House Oversight Committee and will not seek reelection in 2026, citing the return of his cancer.

“The sun is setting on my time in public service,” Connolly said in a statement. “With no rancor and a full heart, I move into this final chapter full of pride in what we’ve accomplished together over 30 years.”

Late last year, many of Connolly’s left-of-center colleagues accused him of stifling generational change by accepting a top party leadership role despite his growing health concerns. With the help of Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, he overcame a challenge from progressive firebrand Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to become the highest-ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, an essential role in exposing the corruption of the Trump administration.

As Connolly vacates this position, it remains unclear whether his departure will finally open the door for younger leadership or whether the party’s center will once again favor seniority. Several progressive Democrats are reportedly considering running for the position. Alongside a potential second run by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Jasmine Crockett, and the first Gen-Z representative elected to the House, Maxwell Frost, have been named as potential candidates to succeed him.

Despite drawing controversy last year, the 75-year-old Democrat will be remembered fondly by his colleagues for his lifetime of public service. “Whether it’s standing up for federal workers, advocating for good governance, or now confronting cancer with the same resilience and grit that have defined his life of public service, Gerry is one of the toughest fighters I know,” said fellow Virginia Democrat Sen. Mark Warner upon the news of Connolly’s departure.
